Call with AI

Call with AI was a groundbreaking proof of concept I developed at TelSmart with team member Pablo. The goal was ambitious: connect OpenAI's advanced voice mode through regular telephone lines to enable AI-powered sales conversations.

The project successfully demonstrated AI conducting actual sales pitches over phone calls, leveraging TelSmart's existing VoIP infrastructure and web client technology. We integrated OpenAI's Voice API with our web clients that initiate VoIP calls.

The prototype was so compelling that it became a cornerstone of TelSmart's innovation strategy for 2025-2027, making AI a central focus for the company's future direction.

Technical implementation involved hooking up OpenAI's Voice API to a client-side application. For production deployment, audio streams would need to be mixed at the VoIP platform level rather than on the client, but this would have required risky infrastructure changes that we couldn't accommodate in the proof-of-concept timeline.

The project hit limitations around AI voice quality at the time and our knowledge of how to push the technology further, but it established the foundation for future AI integration in telecommunications.

Status: Proof of concept completed, to be continued as AI voice technology advances and infrastructure knowledge grows.
